Historical aviation films from the Civil Aviation Historical Society's archive will be shown in our final Film Night for 2012 at the Airways Museum.

What films?


RAF Airfield Construction
B+W, 30 min, 1944. Transforming the 'Green and Pleasant Land' into a huge base for wartime aerial operations.

Aeronautical Oddities B+W, 18 min, mid to Late 1930s. A collection of newsreels documenting man's attempts to fly: some successful, some not!

Horizons Unlimited Colour, 30 min, 1966. Documentary on the history of Portland, Victoria, and the building and opening of Portland Airport. More interesting than it might sound!

Mystery Film

Edgar Johnston's 'Home Movie' B+W, silent, 12 min, c.1937. A previously lost reel from the Controller of Civil Aviation's late 1930s overseas trip to investigate British and American Airports and Industry.
